Q: I am currently studying in Romania. At the local Masjid on days of Jumuah the Imam performs Salaah alal Ghaaib (funeral prayer in absentia) for the matyrs of Syria. I would like to know whether it is better to abstain from this Salaah or to perform it with the Jamaat.
A: If you are a Hanafi then you will not perform Salaah alal Ghaa'ib. It is permissible in the Shaafi'ee Madhab.
