Q: We have carpet that has najasat (impurity) on it because of little children, etc. To make it pure, we used a shampoo machine over it. We shampooed the defiled area once, let it dry, and then repeated this same process two more times. The shampooer squirts out shampoo, and uses brushes to scrub the shampoo into the carpet. Using the process we did, is the carpet then pure?
For liquid najasat on tiles inside the house, once the tiles dry up, are the tiles then pure?
A: For purifying carpets that have become soiled, shampooing is not enough. You needed to use a wet and dry vacuum machine that soaks up the water. With such a machine it is possible to purify a carpet that has najaasat on it by wetting the soiled area and using the machine to suck the water out of the carpet. Repeat the process for another 4 or 5 times. Once all moisture has been sucked out from the carpet, it will be considered taahir or pure.
The drying of tiles is not sufficient for tahaarat. Tiles should be washed or mopped three times. Once there is no trace of najaasat left, the tiles shall be considered as clean
