Q: I live in Saudi Arabia. The price per gram of gold is 200 Saudi Riyals. How do I calculate the zakaat amount for gold my wife has?

A: 200 multiplied by the weight of the gold. Then 2.5% (40th) of the value must be given in Zakaat.

Example: 200  x 80 grams of gold = 16 000. 2.5% will be 400.

If the gold and your wife are with you in Saudi, then pay according to this price. If she is in another country, then the price in that country.

Q: I have been wondering whether having bikini waxes are permissible in Islam since modesty and covering our nudity is an important tenet of our religion. My understanding is that for a woman to expose herself to another woman is not permissible, unless it is necessary for valid reasons such as medical treatment.

A: Yes, exposure will only be allowed when necessary; as in medical treatment. This type of waxing can be done by the lady herself.

Q: Its been a few weeks and within myself I keep having really evil things about Allah. I don't want to say it but I cant control it. Please can you lighten my heart and tell me if it's me or shaytan (the devil)? Please answer me. I can't take it anymore. I'm scared if these thoughts will lead me to hell.

A: The fact that it is worrying you is a good sign. It means that you are concerned regarding your Iman. Shaytaan is trying to con you. Do not become perturbed by these thoughts. Whenever these thoughts occur recite a few times to yourself:

آمَنْتُ بِاللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِ
Aamantu Billaahi wa Rusulih.

Q: Does a boy who is not baaligh (physically mature) and around 12 or 13 years old become baaligh if he masturbates (if some liquid came out)?

A: It is recorded that the earliest that a male can become Baaligh is when he completes 12 Islamic years in age. (Jaami'u Ahkaamis Sighaar V1 P34). Thus this boy will consider himself as Baaligh and all the laws of Shari'ah will be applicable to him.

Q: Did our beloved Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam ask his wives permission before taking another wife?

A: Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) received Divine instruction and permission before marrying. The law is that a husband does not require permission from the current wife/wives to marry another.

Q: Is it permissible to marry if the bride is in her monthly periods?

A: It is permissible to make Nikah to a lady who is in her periods, and the Nikah (marriage) is valid. You may only have a sexual relation with her after the period is over.
